The Ambassador of Burkina Faso accredited to Ghana, Her Excellency Madam Clémence TRAORE, paid a half-day’s working visit to the Borderless Alliance Secretariat on February 5th, 2015. The purpose of the visit was to familiarize herself with the team at the Secretariat and to learn first-hand, the activities and operations of the Alliance.
The Ambassador was briefed on the mission, vision, core values, the Alliance’s mode of operation, as well as some successes that the Alliance has chalked in facilitating regional trade since its inception.
Delivering her remarks, Her Excellency Madam TRAORE underscored the importance of regional trade; emphasizing that it was an issue which was dear to the hearts of the leaders of West African States. She commended Borderless Alliance for making its presence felt at the various points of entries and also continuing to work to eliminate delays and harassments on the transit corridors. The Executive Secretary of Borderless Alliance, Mr. Justin Bayili, underscored that among others, the main causes of harassments on the transit corridors as being the lack of trust between uniformed personnel and drivers; hence the need for Borderless Alliance’s continued effort to educate road users on cross border and road governance issues.
