Borderless Alliance Holds First Ever National Committees Forum in Cotonou

As part of efforts to build the capacities of the National Committees (NCs) of Borderless Alliance (BA) to become more sustainable and effective in addressing  the challenges faced by the business community, particularly relative to the free movement of goods and people across the various corridors within the sub-region; and also to equip them with the necessary knowledge and strategies to broaden their membership base at the country level, the Borderless Alliance Secretariat organized the first ever National Committees Consultative forum in Cotonou, Benin; from 18thto 19thFebruary, 2015.

The objective of the forum was to formulate strategies to reinforce the administrative and financial capacities of the NCs. Among other things, the forum was intended to review the programs conducted so far by NCs, review the scope of NCs activities and discuss the various means of mobilizing resources for their implementation; discuss strategies and ways to increase BA membership base; and finally to conduct an assessment of the collaboration between the Border Information Centres (BICs) and the NCs.

The forum was attended by members of the Executive Committee of Borderless Alliance, National Committee Presidents Representatives of the Host Institutions of Borderless Alliance, the Borderless Alliance Secretariat and the USAID/THN.
