Borderless Alliance, in collaboration with the African Cashew Alliance (ACA) and Global Shea Alliance (GSA), has conducted a one-day capacity building training workshop for stakeholders in the shea and cashew value chains in Côte d’Ivoire. Organized under the theme; “From the farm to the port: challenges of transporting cashew and shea nuts in Cote d’Ivoire”, the training workshop aimed at strengthening the capacity of actors such as transporters, truck drivers, customs and border control officials and port officials to better understand and appreciate current trends in shea and cashew transport and related logistics challenges.
The training also took participants through topics such as access to finance for the shea and cashew industries, the professionalization of the Côte d’Ivoiretrucking industry and other road safety initiatives. Participants were mostly come from industry associations such as Filière Karité de Cote d’Ivoire (FIKA-CI) and the Association of Cashew Exporters. Also present were the Director General of Cote d’Ivoire Chamber of Commerce, Mrs. Marie-Gabrielle Boka-Varlet, Mr. Daufanguy Benjamin Soro, a representative of the Minister of Transport and Mr. Jonas Lago, President of Cote d’Ivoire National Committee of the Borderless Alliance.
