Three years since its formal inauguration in May 2012, Borderless Alliance organized a two-day workshop from July 28-29, 2015; to deliberate on its sustainability strategy in Accra, Ghana. The workshop, which brought together the staff of the Executive Secretariat, members of the Executive Committee and the President of the National Committees of the Borderless Alliance aimed at reflecting on ways and means to make the Alliance a strong viable and reliable institution, for its members and the business community, as well as for the Regional Economic Communities (ECOWAS and UEMOA) and its financial partners. Borderless Alliance was supported, in the conduct of this exercise by the USAID Trade Hub Network and Partners and Kanava International.
The elements of this strategy include: the need to embark on an increased membership base in order to mobilize the resources needed to support the functioning of the Executive Secretariat and the National Committees; the need to build the capacities of the National Committees by giving them a legal status in order to give them the needed recognition at their respective national levels; the provision of some essential services for fees and many others.
At the end of the workshop, the participants adopted a road map that will lead to the effective implementation of the actions of the Strategy for the month of September 2015.
