Borderless Alliance on February 24th, 2015 conducted a workshop on professionalizing the trucking industry in Bamako, Mali. The main objective of this workshop was to share with participants some best practices and identifythe needs in terms of building the capacities of transporters. Forty nine participants attended the workshop including Government representatives, transporters and partners including USAID Mali.
During the one day workshop, various presentations were made on varying topical issues relating to professionalizing the trucking sector. Key topics discussed at the workshop included: best practices in trucking industry;legal framework of road transport sector in Mali;opportunities with USAID West Africa Trade Hub and capacity building and financing needs for the trucking industry. There were also group sessions where many issues were debated and recommendations made towards the promotion of trucking professionalization. The workshop was well covered by local media and was greatly supported by the Malian Government and Trade Hub Network.
