Each week, the focal points transmit the data they have captured from the road governance surveys collected from drivers to the Information Services Directorate (DSI) of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) using dedicated software. At the end of each quarter, DSI transmits the raw data for the quarter received from the Focal Points to the Trade Hub in an Excel file. Because data are captured manually, several types of errors can occur that affect the reliability of the data. A “data cleaning” exercise is therefore needed before the data are analyzed.
This document discusses the most common types of errors that should be corrected, either automatically through error reports provided by UEMOA on a quarterly basis, semi-automatically through routines run by the Trade Hub, or manually by asking Focal Points to verify data on the actual archived survey forms.
